Happy Hour at Oxford!

Who would of thought that the offer of free beer could awake so many trainee pilots out of there work 'slumber' and come and socialise with each our for an hour, but that is what happened this evening, OAA puts on a 'happy hour' drinks 'do' about once a month to say hello to the new course (us) and well done to the guys who have just finished their exams.. (no prize for guessing which course drunk the most...) but everyone is invited and as you can imagine with free beer..... the turn out was strong- I think everyone was there!

                                                          (Waiting for some free beer)

However, for me and many others of the course, tonight was a regular work night, so after a quick diet Pepsi (rock on) it was back to a grueling computer base training (CBT) session learning about altimeters follow by a test.

Anyway, everything all good atm, I genually cannot believe its Friday tomorrow, not because I am stubborn, but I just don't know were the time is going- maybe the work has something to do with that...! I am really enjoying the course, its interesting in content and feels great to be learning about something you are so fixated about- one of the instructors said we have now lost our 'rabbit in the headlights' look and settled in... I agree, it seems crazy that we only started last week but now we can all resight facts and figures reasonable confidently about TAS, IAS, altimeters, ears, pistons, hydraulics, static pressure on and on... the pace of learning is quick!

The weekend plans look action packed, quiet beer down the local tomorrow night with my house mates followed by a Saturday and Sunday with my heads in the books, but to be honest, im good with that... its a pilots life I want, this is my potential ticket.

(Last Friday we had a whip around so Gary could bake a cake over the weekend and we could have it on Monday as a 'pick me up' for the afternoon... it was excellent!)
